First Post!

Hey guys! I'm Kirsten and I'm the 2014 Borlaug-Ruan Intern at the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Hyderabad, India. I'm one of twenty-three interns who get to travel to developing countries to work on food sustainability. I leave June 7th and will be back August 5th! I feel so lucky to be part of the World Food Prize Global Youth Institute, and I cant wait to leave next month. My research center focuses specifically on food sustainability and empowering women in agriculture, which is exactly what I want to do when I grow up, so perfect fit! It's already proving to be quite a rush to get all of the necessary things done, but I like the pressure. (haven't even applied for a visa) Today I got all of my immunizations done. That was a horrific adventure considering how afraid of needles I am, but definitely worth it! Thanks for following my blog, I can't wait to share all of my summer's adventures :)
